Black Sheep Theater Company Productions is an audition-based program for actors aged 10–18 who are enthusiastic about singing, dancing, and performing on stage.

Summary of the Spring Musical:
Captain Louie Jr.

Based on the children's book, The Trip by Ezra Jack Keats, and featuring a score by Grammy Award-winning composer, Stephen Schwartz, Captain Louie JR. is a delightfully fresh and touching story about friendship — the ability to make new friends... and the importance of old ones.

Louie has just moved to a new town and is nervous about making new friends. Alone in his room, he takes flight in his imagination, back to his old neighborhood, where he spends Halloween with his colorful crew of chums. Over the course of trick-or-treating and being introduced to the new kid in that neighborhood, Louie discovers that making new friends is nothing to be afraid of.

FAQ's

Open enrollment happens twice a year. You can sign up between June and August for the Fall Show or between October and November for the Spring Show. Enrollment is first come, first served.

No prior experience is necessary! Our program welcomes all levels. The only requirement is a willingness to try.

Yes, everyone is expected to audition. Please email Micaela if you have any questions or concerns about the audition process.

Solos, lines, and other featured parts will be given out based on the audition process while still leaving opportunities for more throughout the rehearsal process based on attitude and work ethic. While solos are not guaranteed, every performer will be featured in a way that highlights their strengths.

In addition to the weekly rehearsal, students are expected to practice at home—memorizing lyrics, rehearsing choreography, and reviewing harmonies.

Each actor is responsible for learning their music and practicing choreography once it has been taught. If a student misses a rehearsal, they must use provided rehearsal videos or contact the director to catch up. Staying prepared ensures a strong and cohesive production.

Musical theater is a team effort, and every cast member plays a crucial role. Missing rehearsals affects the entire ensemble, making it harder to maintain progress. We ask that students prioritize attending rehearsals on time and fully prepared.

Tech rehearsals are essential in the final days leading up to the performance. These rehearsals allow actors to adjust to onstage changes, finalize blocking, and practice in costume with full production elements, ensuring a successful performance.

One week before rehearsals begin, Micaela will send a welcome email with a link to the Google Classroom. This platform serves as a central hub for practice materials, including music, choreography videos, director notes, and important updates.

Yes, families are responsible for providing their child’s costume. Costumes for this production will be minimal. Micaela will work closely with the families to find costumes for each actor that feel appropriate and reasonable.

Ticket information will be sent out 1–2 months before the performance.
